Start up Programs

Have forgotten how to check what is starting at startup as well as all the process running at one time

Click the start icon lower left.
In the start search type in run. You will see run come up on the top, click that.
Type msconfig in the box and click ok.
Click startup, that will show you what programs are loading on startup.Those are the ones that have a check mark.
If you don't know what they are, write them down and then google each one to see if they are needed or not.
If you have never done this on your computer I am sure you will find a bunch you don't need and could be slowing your computer down.

In addition, you can also just hit the Windows key on the keyboard and then the R key to get the run box, so: Windows+R

The other run command

I just looked at this thread and would like to add another cool trick in vista. Many preinstalled machines don't have the "run" button installed. However, you can type any command in the "search" field and it will execute the command. So, you can really bypass "run" and just use "search" for your commands.

in windows vista you have to use CTRL + SHIFT + ESC.
