Hope this helps.
Windows ME has started giving me fits! Sometimes I can get a response from the start page icons, and other times you click them and go nowhere. This has occured several times after coming off standby, and at times during normal operation. Also, at times, I will click an icon and get a freeze-up on the next page. The only solution I have been able to find to clear this out is to manually shut off the computer. Ctrl/Alt/Delete may or may not help. Even then, when I turn the computer back on, it will go to the screen with scan disk, and if I try to close it and move on, it will freeze again. I do have up to date virus protection. I have also tried to run scan disk from the control panel as well as defragment. Scan disk keeps giving me the message that I have programs running that need to be shut down. I have shut down everything I can think of, but to no avail. Scan disk ran all day today and never finished scanning. If I try defrag., it tells me there is a disk error and to use scandisk first! Any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks!
