Please start by clicking on the link below, then follow the steps (Parts 1-4) to shut down unnecessary start up programs and clean up the computer.

When you finally get to the Scandisk and Defrag section, use the settings advised and you may need to restart the computer into "Safe Mode" to run both programs if they won't run in "normal" Windows. Here is a link to instructions on how to run Scandisk and Defrag:

If the disk damage is too severe, you may need to replace the hard drive, but please start with the steps above.
