Start up items: How do I turn one off ?

Ok, first I'm still using Tiger 10.4.11 on a G4 iBook.

Now, I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm in the middle of a project and, for the life of me, I'm just scatter brained today.

I started using 2 user profiles to keep work issues from my personal stuff so that when I use my laptop in the work place I don't need to worry about others getting into my personal stuff. My habit is to log out of each user.

Now I have a couple of programs that run on log in on the admin profile, such as Skype. I don't want Skype to turn on every time I log in because it takes forever to boot so I went to turn it off. Well, Skype preferences does not offer you the option to stop it from turning on when you log in ! Consequently I'm not sure how to stop this program from turning on every time I log in to my personal user profile. Skype Help was of little use, but I'm sure it's probably because I'm not using the proper search terminology - I suffer from brain farts occasionally Happy

BTW... how do I check and see what other programs are booting up automatically when I turn on my mac ?

Thanks in advance.

System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items -> Click Skype -> Delete

It should be there if it is configured for automatic launch. That ought to do the trick for you. Good luck.

I've looked at that panel dozens of time. LOL. I've been so wrapped up in a project that I just failed to make the connection.

Thanks again ! Happy

I never use start-up items. Easier for both me and the system to launch them manually. Plus, most of the apps I use regularly are in the Dock, so no point.

Glad to help.
