Confused...??

A startup disk is not used to start Windows.

It does start your PC to a DOS prompt so that users can troubleshoot the system.

Maybe you could explain why you want/need to start your PC with a startup floppy? What problems are you facing? Details of your system?

Help us help you.

I am trying to deal with a kernel 23.DLL error that has made programs like win media player not produce any sound.

But that is a little bit short...

Any error messages?

How and when does that happen?

Which version of WMP?

Have you tried a reinstall of WMP?

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and using System Restore?
