Start menu's recently used program list only half full

Aug 2, 2010 10:34PM PDT

Hi all. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I've made the icons on the start menu small and also added some non-default options on the right side (such as Run and Videos). However, there is always a large blank area which (in my mind) should be filled with more recently used programs.

Any way to have more there? I'm happy to change registry things if someone knows a solution.

Here's a picture of what I mean:

Click on the Start button, then RIGHT click on a blank section of the right-hand dark area of the start menu (in your picture it's green and just above the "Hibernate" button), then choose "Properties". When that opens, in the 'Start Menu" tab, select the "Customize" link. Once that's open, change the number of "Recent items" or "Recent Programs" in the counter at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps.
