Start menu program folder invisible

I had a netsys.exe trojan and after I cleaned it using a combination of spybot and Mcafee, I went into my start menu to find something very strange happened. When I go into programs, everything is listed. But when I move over the programs to see the next set of folders, everything is invisible. The menu box appears and is completely transparent with no text visible. If I click on the place where the links should be, it works perfectly but they are just not visible. How can I make them visible again?

Windows XP sp2
Can anyone help?

OK. So the "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" did not work but changing the visual settings to performance mode has. In this mode the menus are visible again.Question... How do I get them to stay visible when I move back to better visuals? I've switched back and they disappear again.

C,Dangers, I've never had to deal with this problem but have you tried the "If that does not help, change the theme to Windows Classic and then revert back to XP Style" part of the instructions at the link?
