Start Menu 'Computer' option not working

Nov 24, 2009 1:31AM PST

A friend has a new HP laptop that came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. She is running Norton 360 3.0 on it. After about a week, she can no longer get into the 'Computer' menu option in the Start Menu. You click on it and it just ignores you. Right-clicking on it works but still cannot 'Open' it.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Can you share more information about the computer, the windows version your friend is running and what you have ruled out as an issue so far?

You mention she is running Norton 360 v3, this is compatible and current software so shouldn't be the issue. To check other software and driver compatibility to can can check with the manufacturer or the Windows compatibility center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx.

Cheers,
Tara

...as stated in my original post. The only additional software that has been added is Microsoft Office 2007 and Norton 360 3.0.

I had similar issues with Vista...

when using the menu option. Going into properties then customize start menu and changing it to display as a link and then changing it back again to display as menu, fixed it, at least for a while.
