I have Windows XP on my computer. Can anyone tell me how to add an icon to the start menu? Thank you.

You can either locate the .exe file for any program, R-click and select, "Pin to Start Menu" or R-click on any shortcut and do the same.

Pinning doesn't seem to be an option

if you use XP Classic Start Menu mode, like I do. With the Classic style I can just drag and drop folders or shortcuts...then I can right click any shortcut and choose Properties and Change Icon.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
