Standby Problem

Jul 2, 2007 12:47AM PDT

Hello-

I have an automatic standby enabled in the power options on my windows xp pro machine. This works most of the time, however, usually after the third or fourth time on the same system boot up, the standby doesn't function properly (ie. it will not go into standby). To solve this problem, I have to reboot the machine and standby will work again. My question is how I can get standby to work without have to reboot the machine every third or fourth time.

I have been doing some google and cnet forum searching and have found several posts regarding standby issues, but none of them have answered my question. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I should also mention the standby is set for 45 minutes of inactivity and the only running program during those minutes is outlook express.

Thanks,
Eric

Thank you for your reply.

I followed the link you posted. The solution to the problem according to microsoft is to update to the latest service pack, which I already have.
