Standby/Hibernate

Feb 6, 2005 5:36AM PST

I have XP 2 and can't work out how to use standby when I'm finished what I'm doing. I've gone through 'help and support', re-set power options in control panel but when I try to start up next morning, the screen is dark and I can only get it back to life by pressing the power button.
All help MUCH appreciated!

using either. They don't always work right. Why not shutdown?

'Cos I want to continue a game the next day and don't want to lose the score. However - Success! . I went start>turn off
computer>standby [while pressing shift]. Standby then turns to'hibernate' and the computer shuts donw. By pressing the power button, all settings re-appear.
