Standalone Playback Units (not through Camcorder)?

Dec 30, 2005 12:41AM PST

I have a sony dcr-pc100 that won't play back anymore. It isn't worth fixing, but I don't have a way to play back the minidvs if I don't fix it. Are there standalone players someone could recommend to playback these tapes (either into a tv or my PC). Thanks in advance. Jim

Yes, but they cost more than a miniDV camcorder.

Why? That's an economic question.

Yes, there are such, but you won't like the price.

Correct, and...

You won't be able to use a stand-alone unit to shoot videos. So why would you want one when your old camcorder is on the fritz and you need to buy a new camcorder anyways? A new mini-DV camera can multi-task!
