Question

Ssd size?

Apr 16, 2018 10:30AM PDT

Hello all,
I just bought a new Hp Envy and everything about it seems great but im not a fan of the hdd drive. I suppose theres nothing really wrong with it id just like to swap it fpr a ssd. Its a 1tb hdd and im not sure if i should get another tb or if 500 gb would suffice. Id have the existing hdd as a external drive if i needed it also. I wont be saving a ton of movies or gaming but i also dont want to run out of space or get slow in a year or two. I know it may seem like im cheaping out but why waste $120 if i dont need to.
The price is $270 for 1tb or $150 for 500gb.

This varies with the user.

Without much known about you I can write that the majority of SSDs I have installed last year are either in the 240 to 256GB or the 480 to 512GB range. Very few went beyond that size.

If there is any doubt and the budget allows, my nod is to the 480 to 512GB sizes.

Depends entirely on you

Again the amount of the storage depends on your type of work and storing requirements. So you need to first define your needs then buy the right capacity drive. SSDs are really fast and play a major role in boosting up your system performance.

If you be more specific regarding your needs then I would be able to assist you in a better way. Otherwise, there is no limit to the option available on the market buy to save money you need to make a wise choice.

Truely your choice

SSD is a great choice but its size depends on your requirements. If you are using your laptop for gaming purpose or for rendering videos then you should buy SSD with good size. Else if you want it for the normal day-to-day task then small size of SSD is good
