Question

SSD 960 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB and Asus LGA1150 Z97 MAXIMUS VII

Apr 10, 2017 2:44AM PDT

Can anyone please check and verify is the newest Samsung SSD 960 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB compatible with the motherboard Asus LGA1150 Z97 MAXIMUS VII HERO?

I tried comparing the specifications but i am not familiar with tech so i don't want to make an expensive mistake.

Thank you very much for helping me out.

It does. If it's like my MB it even has a screw for the M.2 in the proper hole already.
I just did this Saturday. I kept my 1 TB HDD for back ups and such .
I used Easus todo back up free version to clone the new SSD from HDD . > http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm . It took about 35 mins. for . YMMV

You are gonna love this SSD ....

I want to give you a TIP

While you have your case opened up,
1. Order some canned air to blow out the dust
2. Give the case a good looking at , does it need another fan or two as fans go bad as one of mine did
3. Replace the thermal paste on the CPU and if the GPU is out of warranty , replace that thermal paste too
4. Before closing the case , make sure everything is seated because you may have bumped something and loosened it up .
Have fun with this and Good Luck ..

Unless your a serious power user I'll bet you won't see any difference (perf wise) between that ssd and a stock sata ssd for 1/2 the price.
