Question

.srt application not found

Dec 23, 2018 9:36AM PST

Running Windows 10 and have been using WinRAR to download English subtitles, for Asian Dramas, for years and suddenly when I tried to download yesterday, I am getting error message 'Application Not Found'. Had Windows update a few days ago and I am not sure if it had anything to do with it but I just can't figure our why I can't suddenly download .srt files. I tried to set the winRAR as a default app for .srt files in the Control Panel setting but it won't let me do that either. Someone suggested I repair the Registry but it sounds too complicated for my rather inadequate/amateur computer abilities. If somebody out there has solution and can be explained in relatively simple language, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you all in advance.

Answer
.SRT files here are text files.

This are used by a video player or if I want to open them I open them with NotePad+.

I would never think to associate .SRT files with winRAR. That doesn't sound right.

Can you explain "using Winrar to download"?

For downloads I use a browser (like Firefox or Chrome or Edge). Then I go the download page on the site and click a link or a button. If it's a rar-file I need another program (like 7Zip) to open it and extract the contents.

How do you do it?
