spyware that turns off the computer when running scan

by placitas / July 21, 2009 7:25 AM PDT

When I run a scan with Super antispyware on windows xp my system tuns off. I hear some beeps before it dies. The system runs fine if I don't run the scan. I ran the scan in safe mode and the same thing happened.

CAN YOU HELP?

I hear some beeps before it dies

Some machines beep to tell you the CPU or something is getting too hot.

Try it with the case cover off.

Update your super antispyware version to the latest. Remove any programs running in the system tray, background and scan again. See if it helps. If not, how many beeps do you hear? Any BSOD?

1. Safe Mode.
2. Tell a little bit more story. I encountering exactly your story not long ago. It was a home made machine and one of the four heatsink retainers was not in its place.

If you hadn't written about the beeps I would have not suspected the hardware angle.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
