'Spyware Doctor 3.2' Worse Than Useless

Aug 14, 2005 2:37AM PDT

This is one of the most poorly designed pieces of software I have ever seen, and I've been using computers for well over 10 years.

For example:
- I turn off 'Cookie Guard' then, the next time I boot up, it is automatically turned on again.
- There is no ability to indicate which sites I would like to accept cookies from.
- When reviewing results of a scan, I am forced to choose the same solution (fix | ignore) for entire groups of issues, rather than fixing some and ignoring others.
- ...

When I requested a refund, it took *over* a week for them to tell me:

"...the PC Tools Support Team has received a huge increase in sales queries. This has delayed our response time for all support queries."

They are obviously more interested in obtaining new customers than supporting the customers they already have.

Why pay for it. . .

Three free programs, four if you're running XP, will beat any "paid for" program. Since I've been running these I have had no infections or intrusions.

AdAware, Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, and if you're running XP, MS Anti-spyware Beta.

Visit my site below for more details, scroll down to the Anti-Parasite Suite link.

Unfortunately, I trusted a review in a popular PC Mag
Aug 20, 2005 5:41AM PDT

It received the 'Editor's Choice' award, and ranked above all the others reviewed (including some you mentioned).

I guess I have learned the hard way...
