Spyware

Feb 28, 2005 12:44PM PST

A security warning asking to approve the website keeps on poping up. Pop up ad came together with the secruity warning. One is for Better Internet and another one is for 3-day trial of Spyware.com. I have installed Microsoft spyware beta, Webroot Spy Sweeper, Adware 6.0 but cannot clear the message. WindUpdt keeps on showing up when scanned for spyware with MS spyware beta. When Pop Up Stopper tried to stop the ad that came with security warning for Spyware.com, the computer hanged up. Mcafee virus scan is not catching it. Any advice what to do? It appeared that my system is infected.

Upgrade Ad-Aware 6

to Ad-Aware SE Personal, then when installed, update the adware definitions immediately, and run a full scan.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com for Ad-Aware SE Personal.

Let us know how you get on.

Try Spyware S&D, it's free
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

After you install it, switch to the "Advanced Mode." It allows you to edit list of startup programs and the registry. These gray popups are usually not by spyware. They're sent via Windows Messenger, try to disable it. Also, try updating Windows. Service Pack One should help.
