Spyware

I use win XP pro and I have anti spyware acive on my PC. In fact I use Ad-ware, Spybot-Search&Destroy. My computer is running smoothly but I recently got a message which states;

WINDOWS ERROR
system has detected spyware activity
The annoying thing is that I can't detect what it is. The message appears on black backgroud right in the middle of my desktop.

I've managed to get rid of the message but the actual location where it was sitting remains blank. To me its like the spyware thing is still running in the background. The reason for this suspicion is the fact that I can't get back my normal desktop because of that patch in the middle. Please help.

the article refers to IE5.5 not 6 , so you will have to have a look in the desktop tab .

In reply to: Spyware

You probably know you have been hit with a hijack virus Deskop.html that norton and others can't remove.
I can maybe help some if you have not solved your problem.

Thanks Daveking for all your help. In fact I have to thank every member of the community who tried their best to assist me.
I have to say frustration got the better of me and I decided to crush (read zero fill the hard drive)my computer. I then embarked on re-installing everything afresh and its working fine now.

Once again lets keep up the spirit of the community as it does a great job. I have not been very active with the community but my attitude has now changed after seeing how much people care.
