SpySpotter trouble

Nov 21, 2004 6:18PM PST

I did a no no.(I think) I downloaded a program called SpySpotter from spyspotter.com. Uninstalled it. But it left the search bar called Oemji. Now everytime I try to uninstall the search bar it created, it won't let me. When I click finish at the end of the uninstall process, it turns my screen into the black screen of death and freezes everything. Even when I try in safe mode.

Becca, I think you are going to have to use HijackThis for this problem. I'm going to supply you with some links but do NOT try to fix this yourself. HijackThis is dangerous if not used correctly. Download it so you have it and then go to one of the 3 forums that are among the ones that handle these logs. Make sure you follow the directions at whichever forum you choose or they will not help you. They will tell you how to create a log and where to post it. Good luck.

They are annoying, but simply using system restore(progams-accessories-system restore) worked for me.Simply pick a restore date before the pesky bar appeared.

Just as I feared. I'm over at my parent's friends house and their spyware software is...SpySpotter. Now, I'd never heard of SpySpotter...and was suspicious of it. Now, if I SS is as vicious as you described it as, I might have a nasty time removing it...
