SpyBot v1.2, why did update take so long?

Mar 10, 2004 5:13AM PST

I've tried for days to get the v1.2 to update, it showed 3-files. Whenever, I tried it would come back and say a link couldn't be estblished. Today, after showing a 4th update file, it took off and finally
d/l'ed all 4-files. Any clues as to what might have happened. Sorry, if this is an old or reasked question.
TIA -----Willy

Willy,

I assume you downloaded from the "default" UniDo Europe server. Look next to UniDo.Europe - there is a little arrow - click on it and choose EON. Australia - there are NO problems with that server and it downloads fast.

Hi Marianne. I had the same problem as willy. I never noticed ....

that little arrow by the download site, had no idea it was there. If the developer wanted to hide it he sure did a good job Happy

There is also a US site listed, have you ever tried it?

Maybe I am MORE "curious" ?? LOL First thing I do as I see arrows is clicking on them Happy Yes, I tried the other ones too - but EON Australia is the BEST and fastest!!

I have used both the Australian and the U.S. site. I commonly use the U.S. site and have found now problems with it. Your choice.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Grif, but now an odd happening ...

.
The default site shown is Safer-Networking #1 (Europe). I changed that to EON (Australia) but when I later opened Spybot and pressed the update button it said "No mirror selected". The updater checked, there was no update and I noticed the default site was once again changed to Safer-Networking #1 (Europe). That happens no matter which mirror I chose. Looks like I won't be able to chose which site (or server) I want to use.

Do these strange things happen only to me?????

OK, I think I have it figured out .. You have to choose a site each time you use it. -nt

You're right. I just didn't even know there were more than one d/l site. Another setting to check. I've already changed it to the Aussie site. Dang, that was news to me. -----Willy

Willie, have you tried updating since making the change?

If there are NO updates - you will get nothing. You will have to wait until there are updates - then click on the little arrow and choose EON Australia.

It was the name of the site changing that puzzled me. I now realize that ...

you have to choose the site each time you download an update. I think I have it now. Thanks for your patience. Happy

Rosalie, You're Welcome - yes, every time there are updates
Mar 10, 2004 8:13AM PST

you have to click on the little arrow and look for EON.Australia as the default is UniDo.Europe Happy

Same here, but you need to select one otherwise the "dafault" should kick-in. Since, I've updated it reports no newer updates, from whatever link, I select. Arrrrgggg, I just hate so many options, etc.. I've always been with the default for years and only recdntly find this problem. I guess, I was too lazy to check further or was blinded by habit. -----Willy
