Spybot S&D won't delete Hook P2P

by maansari / October 15, 2004 10:40 PM PDT

Does anyone have the answer to deleting 'Hook P2P' that Spybot S&D finds everytime I do a scan. Could be that I've had it for a while 'cos it was only the latest update that found it. Far as I can tell it does no harm, it's just annoying. Thanks in anticipation

Thanks, Bob...I'm a little too amateur to dig too deep and HIJACKTHIS frightens the life outta me. It seems Spybot are on to it and while it appears benign I guess I'll wait and see what their solution is. It seems, from the thread you pointed me to, that it may be a false positive. I hope so and I appreciate you taking the time to answer me...thank you.

While you are waiting maansari, you can open Spybot S&D and go to settings/ignore products and scroll down to "hook p2p" and check the box to have it ignored if it annoys to have it picked up everytime. Spybot has it listed as a trojan.

Exactly right, Roddy, Spybot has it listed as a Trojan and rather than ignore it I wonder what, if anything, it's doing in and to my system? Apparently nothing at present so I think I'd rather keep finding it until it Spybot make it disappear. It may be worthy of note that neither Spywareblaster, AdAware SE nor NAV have picked it up as yet so I wondered how widespread the problem was, hence my original post. Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it.

Thanks, Merl...good call...neither one of them found anything suspicious but I can't believe it's just little ole me with the problem.
