Spybot question

Nov 27, 2004 8:02PM PST

Every time I run Spybot this "DSO Exploit" keeps popping up. I can "fix" it, immediately run Spybot again, and it will show again. I went to the "jump to location" and still can't find it in the registry. Any suggestions? Thanks

That's a known glitch with Spybot, just disregard or follow thier steps to correct it(at support website). It will continue to pop-up if left alone after you remove it. It does no harm just accept it and when propmted remove it with any other findings. Other than that, I've found Spybot does well just leaving it at its defaults.

good luck Grin -----Willy

A fix
Nov 27, 2004 9:37PM PST

Like Willy said, it's a glitch and not harmful but if you would like to fix it, you can do so. There has been a beta fix released for it. Just download it on top of your current version. It will change your version to 1.3.1TX. After you download it, run Spybot S&D, let it fix the exploit, then reboot and run it again. It should be gone, if not, just put it into ignore until Spybot comes out with a permanent fix for it which should be soon. I'm not sure if the rebooting is totally necessary but it seems to work better that way.

Have you tried shutting down your computer for a little while after getting rid of it? Sometimes it hangs in memory. Also- make sure you check for updates regularly. I seem to remember having that problem and I got the free version of Spyware Doctor and it found and removed quite a few extra things that S&D didnt-it's a good extra to use along with Spybot as well as SpywareGuard(Formerly BHOcop)and Spyware Blaster (for Active X protection) both by javacool. Do you click on immmunize after downloading updates? You need to go to that area and click on the "medicine bottle"icon to add more immunizations after downloading updates. If none of that works- throw your computer off the highest building you can find (and wont hit anyone) LOL j/k
