Spybot not deleting entry

Dec 27, 2004 3:55AM PST

I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy. When I run it I get response indicating I am infected with something called "DSO exploit - 5 entries." I ask that this be repaired, and get answer that the entries have been deleted. But every time I run Spybot afterward, the "DSO exploit - 5 entries" appears, again and again. What do I need to do?

That is a bug in Spybot. There has been a beta fix released for it. Just download it on top of your current version. It will change your version to 1.3.1TX After you download it, run Spybot S&D, let it fix the exploit, then reboot and run it again. It should be gone, if not, just put it into ignore until Spybot comes out with a permanent fix for it which should be soon. I'm not sure if the rebooting is totally necessary but it seems to work better that way.

Also the reason many of us use Adaware also.

They-Spybot and Adaware- seem to balance each other. One usually catches something the other one missed. chuck

throwing SpywareBlaster into the mix is also a good idea. All of these have extra options once you get used to them.

Ad-Aware SE (download, update, scan)

SpywareBlaster(this is a blocker, not a scanner, download it, check for updates, enable it and leave it alone except for checking for updates every week or two.
