SpyBot finding

Jul 18, 2007 12:17PM PDT

Microsoft.Windows.Security.InternetExplorer:
Settings HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1655837818-1005333802-354995191-1005\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\iexplore.exe!=W=1

This is an item which keeps being found by SpyBotS&D 1.4

Question is should I let the spyware program delete this Registry Key? It looks like it might be a normal or required entry. What should I do?

Thanks,

~Dave

I've come to the conclusion by reading all you have written and suggested, that the "active content" thing must be the problem. And actually that's not even a "problem". With active content checked, you get the "warning". Without it, you get certain stuff blocked on the internet. I guess it's a browsing case-by-case call for the individual.

Thanks again,

~Dave

Just delete it

To make it simple:

NOTHING (in my experience and in experiences of many others) detected and deleted by SpyBot will destroy your computer. Just delete anything it comes up with because whatever it comes up with has some sort of annoying or harmful code in it. Your specific registry entry looks like there is something controlling IE or something that crashes it.

Plus, if by deleting it, you screw up IE, then just reinstall it. OR a much easier method is if deleting the key crashes IE, then use SpyBot's Recovery feature to restore the key. My SpyBot program definenetly doesn't pick up an entry like that.
