General discussion

Spy vs Spy question.

Mar 13, 2004 3:28AM PST

I read the thread..

Now I have a few question, are those websites mention on the thread are save for anyone?

What if they went to the site and get a popup (I get the warning popup) then Close the IE, without clicking yes or no (to block)-- is the 'targetnet' get install??

Why SpybotSD have to ask? are they supposed to just block such thing?

Thank you

Is your SpybotS&D up-to-date?? Have you taken care of the "immunize" in spybot?? Have you installed and an up-to-date SpywareBlaster from Javacool ?? Have you unchecked "install on demand" ??

You will only "see" the pop-up from SpybotS&D as you have set it to: "ask for blocking confirmation". I have set it now to: "Block all bad pages silently".

Here is info about TargetNet:

Melati, You Might Try Using a 'HOSTS' File
Mar 13, 2004 9:01AM PST

Read about it below:

What is the Hosts file?
http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html

A "HOSTS" file is a simple text file, placed in a specific folder on your computer, depending on your version of Windows, which stops the compute from visiting a variety of sites, including advertising and spyware sites. There are a number of HOSTS files available on the internet. The one at the link above is alright. I use the one at "HPGURU". It's your choice, but I use one on all my computers.

Hope this helps.

The spyware will installed on your system, as soon as you visit the website,

even if you close IE after visiting their website. Even if you did not response the SpybotSD popup.

'Hopefully' not, if you answered Yes to all Marianna's questions.
