Sporadic Machine/System Startup Problem

Jun 12, 2005 7:33AM PDT

After a period of time running, starting again after a shutdown, my startup hangs up. When I look at the Task Window, I see "Exlorer not responding". I need to shut down again and restart. The machine goes through "improper shutdown detected" routine and the system then restarts normally. I'm running Windows Me and Explorer 6.0. I've gone through complete defrags and disc scans, but the annoyance persists. What are the possible causes and solution? Thank you - DRT
ps: I'm using a Dell Dimension L933r (933MHz) machine.
