Resolved Question

splitting a usb cable to run 2 keyboards

Jul 14, 2016 7:28PM PDT

I have my tv hooked to a pc and I run that pc, and most of my tv, with a keyboard. Since there is only 1 keyboard my wife is a bit miffed that she doesn't have a keyboard too. I am running the keyboard by usb cable and that cable is something like 20' long (don't want to run another one of those). Anyway, I tried to run 2 keyboards off the 1 usb cable and found that it did not work. If I try and hook two keyboards up neither works.

I thought I would ask why - thank you...........

Answer
get wireless

I would suggest getting two wireless keyboards so you will not have to put up with wires. That is what I have and have no problems at 20 feet. They are both logitech k400 series.

You can get a usb hub that will run one wire between the usb port and the keyboard, then you can use two cables from there.

major oops - I said you can run one wire between usb port and the keyboard. It should say one wire between usb port and the hub.
