Question

split screen one tv with two laptops

Jun 29, 2014 12:30PM PDT

Hi there. Just joined because I can find no answers. even the all powerful google falls short. I have been searching for day on how to play a game on my tv with two players via split screening. EVERY topic or forum/message board has NO solutions. every one that "DOES" is wrong. almost all of them say something like "plug on in with the VGA and then on with the HDMI". or "just use Picture in Picture" trouble is my tv HAS PIP but the "second" screen (a laugh really) is less than half the size of my 17" laptop screen. some suggest "Spiltter boxes" (used for CCTV etc.). but ALL of the links take you to bad pages or products that use RF or AV plugs, not VGA and certainly not HDMI. Is there such a product (VGA or HDMI, not interested in anything else), preferably HDMI as I have many HDMI cables but no VGA cables? Please Help anyone.

Answer
The cost of the hardware to do this is more than another TV.

While I know of video wall processors and more the awful truth is that another TV is cheaper than all the boxes I've seen to date.

Is it possible to post links to any known HDMI boxes that allow/enable spilt screening? I have a 52" tv in my room and the cheapest here is **** brand for $400. so even a $200 box is cheaper than that.
