Speeding-up internet ?

Aug 28, 2005 6:54AM PDT

Hi. I was searching for downloads for speeding-up internet, and came to www.pcpitstop.com. I downloaded there optimize software for a check-up. They have a list of settings and their recomended value. Can anyone tell me where I can change settings for the following items? (OS=WinXP,Browser=IE6)

Maximum Transmission Unit;
TCP Receiving;
Default TTL;
Auto MTU Detection;
Black Hole Detection;
Max Dup Acks;
Fast Retratanmission and recovery support value;
Selective ACKs;
Maximum Connections;
Maximum 1.0 Connections;

If not all, atleast a few?
And if these are not the solutions, or if they are, can someone tell me other ways I can speed up my internet?

Any help apreciated...

What type of connection do you have?

I'm assuming you're on dial-up, and tweaking that type of connection is haphazard at best, ineffective at worst. What is your connect speed? If it's in the 40s you won't see much higher results if any. The download managers/accelerators cannot change the physics of the telephone cable pair. Visit my site below for the reasons.

If you're on cable or ADSL, go here http://www.broadbandreports.com/ On the left side of the screen, click on the Tools and Tests.
