Speed Boost

Feb 17, 2009 5:33AM PST

I have a Cox broadband connection, and I access the internet with my 2.66 GHz Intel iMac (late 2008 model) with a Linksys 802.11g wireless router. My connection speed has dropped from over 5 mbps to a bit less than 1. I'm tired of calling Cox to no avail; is there a way to speed up my connection, such as a speed boost program for mac, or somehow rerouting my connection? Can I use my TV signal (DirecTV) as internet?

Is there a way to check it? I don't think Cox even offers DSL, and they wouldn't change it without letting me know, would they?

In the old day, cable co. offer cable internet. But now I see cable co. offers DSL (maybe because it's less expensive?).
