Question

Specific website won't load (bizarre)

Sep 10, 2016 8:54AM PDT

I have a specific website which refuses to load across multiple devices (2 x PC, iPad, 2 x Android Phone), using different browsers (Chrome, IE, Safari), and even on mine and my wife's android while the Wi-Fi is turned off, and on the 4G network! I've confirmed that the website is up, other people at work can access it.

https://wmtscheduler.faa.gov

I ran a "tracert" command which completed fine. I'm getting "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET"
What in the world is going on?

If you installed some antivirus across those machines? When I hear your complaint I usually find the owner has done something across the board.

Nope

No antivirus installed above the standard OS stuff. I'm trying to now get confirmation about the website status, its possible that its only working for other .gov users on the gov net right now. Can anyone else here get to the login screen?

I see the login screen.

And I used a bog standard W10 laptop with the DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. What DNS are you using?

Sorry, you just went over my head, I'd need help answering that.

It's a common setup question.

Found the issue

So I did a bit of searching, have now pinpointed the issue to be ICP/IPv6 causing the problem. I don't really know what v6 vs. v4 means, but I do know that unchecking the box in LAN properties, "Internet Protocol Version 6", allows me to log on to the website. Something must have changed on their end because I've not changed anything with my setup since it started not working.

Here's my page. v6 is checked. Works here.

That checkbox is default checked and so far, I've yet to find that to cause an issue.

That's why I asked if you have a standard thing you install on all your machines.
