Speakers whistles

Sep 28, 2006 6:52AM PDT

Hello,

I have an iMac Flat Panel 17" (G4 - 1.25 Ghz - OSX 10.4.5).
In the last days a strange problem appeared:
when the integrated microphone is set on, and the
output level is at the max, even if the computer is
totally idle the right speaker whistles very loud.

Is it normal ?

Thanks

If the Mic is on and the speakers are set to max, the mic will pick up sounds from the room, put them out through the speakers where the mic will pick them up and put them out through the speakers. Forever.

If you turn the volume down, does the whistle go away?

If the mic is turned off, does the whistle go away?

If I turn the volume down, with the microphone on, the whistle stops, but the speaker continues in having a very small vibration.
It's possible to feel this vibration only by touching the speaker.
If the mic is turned off non probems.
