Speakers needed?

Feb 24, 2009 11:06AM PST

Are speakers needed for the A650 LCD series, or are the built in speakers good enough? If not, what home theatre system would be recommended?

kind of off topic, but when can we expect the new 3600 and 4600 blu ray players to hit the market? and at what price?

I like the internal speakers on my A630, which is supposedly the same as the A650. Not surround sound, but very good nonetheless.
But one issue I have is using Audio Out at the same time I'm using the internal speakers...they're not in sync. Samsung says this is normal, which I think is B.S.

I don't have any release dates on the new product lineup, but as they arrive I'll announce it here when I can.

The speakers in the television have a digital signal sent to them. When you use the RCA outs, the transfer from digital to analog audio out (RCA must be analog) does cause a delay because of the process.

Any receiver would be good, but if you are going with a surround sound system, you might consider one with a few optical audio inputs rather than just one. (One for each surround source, such as cable box, Blu-Ray, or game console, depending on your needs).

Having worked with digital musical devices (MIDI) for over decade, I can tell you that A/D & D/A converters can be extremely fast. Fast enough that studio producers can not hear a lag. Maybe Samsung needs to investigate the music industry for their audio components. A lag to RCA audio is simply a defect that Samsung would be wise to correct.
I've also read the problem also exists for Optical Audio, which means any external sound system for the TV will be pointless. ?
