Speaker System: Ideal for Music

Aug 10, 2007 2:22AM PDT

I am looking for a new set of surround sound speakers for my computer. I am not opposed to buying home theater speakers, but I figured the computer speakers will get the job done and do just as well, for cheaper.

I will be using these speakers primarily for music; I am fairly picky about how my music sounds. I really do not want something that will just be loud or bass-heavy all the time.

I have looked at a few of the Logitech upper-end models (Z-680, Z-5300), but have read many complaints about the mids. That's a problem that even a good equalizer will not properly fix IMO. I have also looked at the Klipsch 5.1 set, but have heard many problems about their amplifiers dying. I have also looked at Altec Lansing, but I don't know much about them.

Any advice? Thanks!
