speaker setup for old receiver to new TV

I have a old 1993 Pioneer VSX-512S Dolby ProLogic that I have connected to my Sony tv with a DAC . Music and tv sound great, but I have a center channel I would like to use as well and right now the center will not work together with the other 2 speakers. I know it is not desirable to use a 3 speaker setup but this is what I have for now. Is there any way to get the the left, right and center to work together other than buying a new receiver? Second part of question.. if I have L,R and C speakers connected to the receiver and receiver connected to DAC shouldn't I hear sound through all 3 speakers?

I wonder though

How would the center speaker's volume be equalized with the other speakers Confused

Got it

It wouldn't be.. looked into a bit. I figured out the issue why my center wasn't working. The receiver I have had for awhile but never hooked it up and I did not have a manual. finally found the closest manual I could find for my receiver... was just a matter of combination selections with the Dolby 3 channel logic settings. Thanks for the replies.
