speaker/earpiece volume gone screwy in iPhone SW 2.0

Hi all,

First time on iPhone Atlas? but long timer in the MacFixIt forums. Anyway, I've recently discovered what appears to be a bug?some will say one of many?with the latest firmware/software for iPhone. I have a gen. 1 iPhone with the 2.0 software & have come across a problem with the volume remaining level on the earpiece and/or speaker.

I have pretty sensitive ears and as a result can hear quite well, so I keep my earpiece rather low in volume. Well, I like to keep my speaker rather loud so I can hear the phone ring when it's in my pocket or across the room. Seems like now when I turn the volume down while on a call, after being blasted in my ear b/c it was up real loud from somehow registering as my speaker volume, the speaker is at the same volume as the earpiece afterwards. I'm turning the earpiece volume down via the volume keys on the side, and the speaker volume up via the software?in Settings/Sounds. It even appears to be turning itself back down with no intervention by me?it appears to always turns itself down to the same volume level. Oh yeah, and I'm using a custom ringtone I created (but have never had this problem with the ringtones before). This has never happened to me before, so I can only assume it's some sorta bug w/in the SW. I've even restarted my iPhone off a coupla times in hopes that it would somehow correct itself? to no avail.

Has anyone come across this situation? Any thoughts and/or solutions? LMK if you need any more info to help troubleshoot. Thanks!
