Speaker & ear phones

by larreebee1 / December 27, 2009 1:51 PM PST

I would prefer to keep earphones plugged in at all times & be able to move via keyboard (or other means) to & from the speakers.

What have I overlooked?

having a machine that will do that.

Plugging earphones into a Mac, or most other computers, will disconnect the external speakers.
It does that by disconnecting the speakers physically. Only by removing the earphone plug, is the speaker connection re-established.

How would you do it on a Windows box?

All the windows boxes that I work on mute the speaker physically when the plug is pushed in.

If you have a windows fix, I would like to hear it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
