Question

speaker and receiver problems

Sep 15, 2015 9:36AM PDT

My surround sound speakers periodically make a horrible screeching noise. Is it my speakers or my receiver? Could it be how it is wired? The tuner is a Pioneer VSX-821 and the speakers are Harman-Kardin. It is run through a DirecTV DVD. I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It certainly could be.

"It is run through a DirecTV DVD." This is unusual, can you detail the connections?

It is connected through a DirecTV DVR not DVD, sorry. Could it be the connection? Which would be the better way to set it up? I have tuner instructions, speaker instructions, and DVR instructions.

Generally the speakers are connected to the receiver (Pioneer). Can you supply us the model number of the DVR (just want to see what that is like).

Let's say the Pioneer is connected to the DirecTV?
