SPARE battery for SDR-H40P/PC

Mar 21, 2009 11:14AM PDT

I have recently bought one PANASONIC SDR H 40 camcorder. It works very fine and I am satisfied with it. My problem is the battery VW VBG070A supplied with it works only for 50 mts. I need to have a spare battery. That battery is not available in the market. The other batteries recommended by the company do not fit in inside the camcorder slot provided. Can I get some advise. please.

According to the manual

The battery pack that came with the camcorder is VW-VBG070A (see page 9).

There are three higher capacity battery packs (Page 20).

Only the smallest of the three (and obviously the one that came in the box with the camcorder) will fit in the battery compartment - otherwise, the other two larger batteries require an external battery pack holder kit (Page 118 - see the notes associated with the battery line items).

Amazon.com has all three batteries and the external battery pack holder kit - just search the part numbers found in the manual.

I would suggest staying with the Panasonic or Matsushita branded batteries.

Battery VW VBG07A-PANASONIC SDR H 40 camcorder palmcorder
Feb 24, 2011 3:49AM PST

3/24/2011 discovered that Interstate Batteries can order this battery or any other battery direct from Panasonic or any other manufacturer. We are getting a second VW VBG070A battery for $59.98 and $.299 for shipping. Takes about two weeks for you to receive your battery. Folks at Interstate Batteries tells us that this happens all the time. Manufacturers sell you a camera, palmcorder-camcorder, or anything else. If you want a replacement battery the manufacturer says the battery you want is no longer sold but they have a battery that will work. Problem is you wind up paying for a higher priced battery and you probably have to also buy a new charger. The price is so rediculous that they hope you will just buy a new camera instead of replacing said battery/with charger. Hope lots of folks read this and get some good advice from this explanation.
