I am getting up to 80 emails a day, 99% junk. Can anyone recommend a download to stop it?

Gravy,

There are a number of programs that work as SPAM blockers and they all have their good points and bad points. A number of folks use the free program below and like it for individual use. Others may have personal preferences as well.

Mailwasher
http://www.mailwasher.net/

Some use webmail clients that allow for a "junk mail" folder, or at least an easy method to highlight all junk and delete it in seconds.

In some cases, it's almost better to get a new e-mail address that is complex enough so that the routine spam doesn't hit it for a while. But remember, the more advertisements you respond to, or the more times you try to "opt out" of received spam by clicking on the little "opt out" button (assuming the sender is a unscrupulous sender), the more spam you will get.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Grif, I'm giving mailwasher a try.

You mentioned highlighting all the spam then deleting. How do I do that? I know how to "copy & paste" but when I drag the ponter over more than one email it does not highlight. A setting perhaps?
Thanks

...while looking at the "Inbox" folder, click on the first message in the list to highlight it, then click on "Edit" in the upper left corner, choose "Select All". All the messages will be highlighted. If you hold down the "Ctrl" key, you can then click on the individual messages that you want to keep and they will be highlighted. When you're ready to delete the junk, simply click on the X in the upper toolbar, or click on "Edit" again, then select "Delete" from the menu.

My previous post was referring to "webmail" which in many cases will allow the user to "check all" of the messages in a list by clicking on a single button on the mail page while on the internet, then the user can "uncheck" those that are wanted. Choosing "Delete all Checked items" removes all the unwanted messages.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Grif except I do not use spam blockers.
But, I did change my address a long time ago and went from 45 per day to maybe 1 per week.
But#2, I never click on those opt out links. In fact I do not click on links in e-mail messages.
But#3, I have asked my well meaning friends to clean up their mailings by putting the recipients' addresses in the "bcc" field and not their "cc" field.
To highlight more than one entry in your in-box simply hold down the "Ctrl" key while clicking on those items you wish to highlight.
BTW, unless you take some action it will only get worse. I think spammers obtain (read "steal") each others mailing lists.
