I heard over the radio that having the terrorist be Basque would help the current government's election but Muslim would hurt.

The information says that France has been ignoring the Basque terrorists until 9/11 and have arrested 600 since then. He was comparing it to al-Qaida in Pakistan. They attack in Afganistan and then run back to Pakistan. These would attack in Spain and run back to France.

This is really a strange situation.

Not trying to make excuses for al-Qaida in any way but I'm beginning to be doubtful it's really them. Or the ETA for that matter. There seem to be too many pat tangible clues leading to al-Qaida involvement (backpacks, video in trash can, scraps of paper) yet experts say the classic clues of al-Qaida type terrorism are missing.

Hi, Rosalie.

The "classic clue" is increased cell phone chatter. Can't you imagine that after the many mentions of that being a giveaway, they've changed their modus operandi to using coded conversations in chat rooms like this one? (Actually, this would be a poor one to use because most of us "know" each other. One of the "meat market" chatrooms would be much more effective, I'd guess.

Why would they change their modus operandi, they have nothing to hide.

.
I'm sure they would be more than happy to take credit for any act of terror that occurs.
