SP3 updates won't install

I've recently updated SP2 to the third one and then again after i ran Windows Update(R!) instantly, ok all updates downloaded properly(thanks god!) but then there lies the problem, not one of these 16 updates would install, I even downloaded IE7 and WMP 11 manually hoping it would change sth in updates and they'd install(this one works in many occasions if you run xp!)
Well i haven't yet dared to clear my cache and download the updates again for two reasons!: 1- i have a 128 connection so i should leave pc turned on for another whole night 2- i'm somehow sure it wouldn't work and the problem lies somewhere beneath the hidden layers of windows engineering!
regards!

P.s: I don't know why i'm being so lazy to buy an apple or at least change this stuff to Ubuntu!

P.p.s: It's not somehow related to activation or sth, is it?
Windows didn't ask me for anything when i changed it to sp3, will they want to charge me more for this brilliant release?!

I'm not sure if this fits your case or not

Once you've updated to SP2, Windows wants to use it's "Genuine Advantage" tool to validate your installation before it will allow any further updates. Does this sound familiar and was your OS validated as legitimate?

Mistype,

In reply to: I'm not sure if this fits your case or not

I think that my first post leads to a misunderstanding, i currently have SP3 but the updates that i have downloaded don't install, and yes my windows was validated, otherwise i don't think I'd be able to update it to SP3.

Usually I'd try

In reply to: Mistype,

make sure Windows is validated

Re-register the Windows Update DLL with the commands below

Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll

Attempt to run Windows Update

Also try the Windows Installer link for Non-Vista machines from Microsoft.

WOW!

WOW Rick! That was perfect, that was surely better than any Microsoft 24/7 support! And guess what, it WORKED! You're a Guardian Angel! I had no idea it'd work but it did!
Thank You Rick

Just curious

In reply to: WOW!

Was Windows Validated or did you validate it again.

Re-registering the .dlls usually works.

(I don't understand why we have to put in a subject!)
No it was already validated.

the .dlls are the culprit. I have a few posts and someone find the posts and then posts a thank you for the advice, it worked. If you keep the email notification on this, you'll find someone else will find theis and use it.

Glad you got everything working.
