The only times I've ever seen a problem with SP2, is when a person has some spyware on the system. SP2 just causes the inevitable total system crash to happen immediately, instead of at some random point in the future.
If you've got a system that's free of viruses, spyware, and similar pests, there shouldn't be any problems with installing SP2. And considering the HUGE number of rather critical security holes fixed in SP2, it should be applied immediately, if not sooner. A firewall won't protect against some of the things fixed in SP2. It will also soon become the case that all future security updates for Windows will depend on SP2 being installed.
Hi: Can you all tell me the pros and cons of having SP2 installed on my computer. I have heard some horror stories after people have downloaded SP2 on their computer that I am really afraid to do so. I have antivirus, a personal firewall, and am looking for spyware that doesn't spy. So, why do I need SP2? Please advise. Thanks in advance!
