SP 2 And Javascript Problems

Nov 9, 2004 7:12PM PST

For some reason pages will not allow javascript to run even though I changed the settings to enable. Does anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to make absolutely sure you're talking about JavaScript and not just Java, because the two are entirely different beasts, and the answer would vary greatly depending on which it is.

An example site would clarify if it's Java or Javascript.

The page seems to view fine, but you have to be really specific about what isn't working on the page or is missing.

PS. There is SPYWARE that will do as you write.

Every time I click on the listing nothing happens, I can't see any of the banners on the page, and sometimes I see something that says javascript:void(0).
Thanks for the help.

Something odd at that site.

Not much happens in both IE and Mozilla. Maybe it works for someone else, but the page seems quite dead here.

Have another page to try?

I think I finally fixed the problem. Unistalled the default anti-virus program that came with my computer, and installed a new anti-virus program javascripts work fine now. Thanks for the help.

You are not alone. I'm having the same problem and can't find answers anywhere. Somebody out there has to be able to help those of us with this problem.

Love to pitch in, but we need sites to converge on and most of the tiny issues are cleared up with IEFIX. And as always, the SPYWARE issue is dogging too many machines.

I have the same problem. Just installed the XP home OS and click on javascript button and wont work. Here is my example. I go to this site: http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and click on the start button for the speed test and nothing happens. Something is not right here.....?

I tried it in Mozilla with XP Pro SP2 and it worked fine.

You may want to try it in Firefox or Mozilla.

Your suggestion worked beautifully! I loaded Firefox and have absolutely no problems. Internet Explorer was the cause of my problems.

Works fine for me too. IE6 XP SP2 with dial-up. I have everything set as default except for a few security settings higher than some people have them but it works fine.
