Let?s see if I can do this?write the sounds understandably.
One day I was alone in the office and took a call from a man (from Texas, with a very masculine voice) who wanted to leave a message.
I asked him his name, and he clearly said,
?DIANE.?
Well, I couldn?t believe that. I?ve known men with names such as Lynn, Clair, Leslie, and such, but come on?and especially with a heavy Texas drawl.
I repeated back to him, ?Diane?? and he said ?Yes, Diane.?
I still couldn?t buy it, and repeated again, ?Diane??
?Yes? he said, ?Diane. . . . . Dee, Aaye, Ayann. Diane.?
Then I got it. Duh!
?Oh, . . . DAN !?
He was exasperated, but affirmed, ?Yes, Diane.?
I don?t think he ever realized what I heard, but I managed to take the message.![]()
