When you start a new thread. All that is known is what is in the thread. While I may point to http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6141-0.html?forumID=8&threadID=11839&start=0 , if there is relevant discussion about what is there, then continue in that thread. Let's try to get your new thread and questions some answers.

1. "Unfortunately, I do not understand all the things in Windows Update. When I see "Critical" or things that just need to be updated, I just do it. How am I supposed to know about drivers?"

Windows Update did and does show such an update for another system here, at home for a Via Sound driver. It is something that you learn that Microsoft doesn't do drivers so you just ignore such. Sadly, people only learn this or are told by others.

2. "I am not that computer literate. Isn't there someway Microsoft could just explain it a little simpler for those of us that don't understand computer talk?"

That is a "Wouldn't it be nice if?" discussion. I don't have a solution except that computers have never been easier to use. I have articles about this if you want to read them, but the issue that you have to know more about the PC to use it seems to not make some happy.

In short, it's not like a toaster.

3. "In your reply, you said about installing drivers from the makers? How do I know which one, when I don't even know what I downloaded when I updated windows?"

This can be hard or easy. Some people have a HP/Compaq/Dell and a make/model number. It's sometimes tough for people to understand that such information could make a solution too easy in that a forum member could supply a web-link to some location and tell you to install this from that location.

Your lack of supplying such make/model information is almost like not knowing what make/model CAR you have and you go to the auto parts store and want a new light bulb or head lamp. Automobiles are just as complex and you need that make, model and year too.

Sorry to hear your woes, but do think about supplying the missing information so forum members can pitch in and help you out if the machine's supplier won't.
