Soundblaster Audigy SE applications problems.

by Guerito / September 30, 2009 6:29 PM PDT

Hi all.
Recently bought a Soundblaster Audigy SE OEM and Creative Inspire 5.1 system. Windows 7 compatability list reported that this card works with 7, it does Creative even have 7 drivers on their site. Problem is the apps. that come with it, surround mixer, graphic equalizer, etc, don't. Everytime I click on any of the apps. I get 'The audio device supported by this application is not detected.' I've tried xp drivers, vista drivers, drivers that came with card but none of them make the apps. work. I really need the graphic equalizer because the 'top end' of the speaker range (tweeter) is almost none existant, the bass is so dominant even a a setting of 1.
Has anyone got/found/know where I can find suitable apps, Creative of 3rd party that will allow me to configure my speakers?
Thanks for any help, I am desperate.

Card is not faulty. The bare bone drivers work, I can configure speakers from windows control panel...just can't get the sound I want because apps. don't work. Creative say they are supporting 7 but their Win 7 driver page just says 'Sorry your search returned no results.' Maybe I should have bought Logitech or Trust.

Sounds faulty to me.

Many forget that without software the hardware is what it is. If the software for the hardware has a problem, the entire package has a problem.

But wait, Windows 7 is NOT OUT YET. Demanding support for an unreleased OS?

...has been available for quite a while. I have been using it since June. The official release for Windows 7 is the 22nd of this month, Oct, so if hardware companies haven't got their act together now they will have to move real fast. I am already using Nvidea Windows 7 drivers and Viewsonic. Other companies who have caught on early are Belkin and AMD/ATI. All that aside Vista drivers should work with this card BUT DON'T!

Remember Windows 3.x, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003 and so on.

The name changes but the story never has. It's not a released OS so it's too early to demand the drivers.
