May 12, 2015 5:11AM PDT

I am using win Vista and
I have some stuff playing on my laptop that I wish to record

I have seen the program "sound recorder" that come with the O/S
But it only seam to record from a microphone that is plugged in and I don't have one
I just want to record what ever is coming out of my laptop speaker
I had the idea of plugging one jack into the sound card and the other into the mike
But the sound card has no drivers

And there are thousands of prior discussions about settings and workarounds if your laptop won't play along.

I've never had to use the jack method.

No.

But Audacity has worked for me and thousands of others. It's also free.

What I can't tell is if it will work for you.
