From what I've read.

The MS driver may not work. In short, identify the card maker, get its drivers, use those and never let Microsoft update the driver. I don't have your card, but another one I one will stop working IF I allow that driver from Microsoft.

Go to Srart>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. Components. Sound Device. Note the sound device used. Close off. Now go to Control Panel for "Sound and Audio Devices" and select accordingly.

The problem with Aureal is well known.

The company imploded years ago and didn't release details about their chipset into the public domain. They were (insert bad name here) and decided to just leave everyone out to lunch.

Those in the know, know to stay away from any Aureal based card. Sure, try it, but history is against us.
