Sound problem

Mar 6, 2016 3:13PM PST

Hi everyone !

Since I switched to W10, I've encountered an annoying bug : sometimes, the sound just stops. Suddenly, without any warning.
Most of the time, I just restarted it and it worked fine, but since it was more and more frequent I tried to uninstall/reinstall HD realtek audio (I got it from the homepage of my laptop : http://www.samsung.com/ae/support/model/NP300E5V-A06AE )

Problem, the installation doesn't work (I don't have the exact error code, I can get it if that helps)...
Now I have no sound at all, it's really problematic...

Do you have any idea of what I should do?

Thank you in advance for your help !

Ask the laptop maker about
Mar 6, 2016 3:38PM PST

1. BIOS versions (can matter in such cases)
2. Motherboard chipset drivers.

Is it accessible from the computer?

Or do I have to contact Samsung directly?

If by contact

You mean looking at the Samsung web site for updates, then yes.

Asked them

Did not find any detail on their site...
Let you know when there's news...

I don't see Windows 10 drivers there.

SW Update (a Samsung thing) might help. Did you run that?

I launch it, but i get this error .
What should I do to run it anyways?

You can see why.

It's going to need total access to the web, all the hard drives and more. As Windows and AVs protect more, you see such more and more. I know it should be allowed.

"an administrator denies you this action"

I went into "properties" and gave it total control on everything but it still gets blocked... The blocking window says "an administrator denies you this action", but I'm the only administrator on this machine...

Solved (cheating a bit)
Mar 6, 2016 6:12PM PST

I just switched back from w10 to w8.1, the driver was reinstalled and with some luck the problem of sound stopping at random moments will stop too.
Thanks for your help anyways !

Sound is the fault of Windows 10

I don't have a Samsung but every since Windows 10 downloaded without my permission, my sound is very faint. When you download or have to download Windows 10, remember to send Microsoft a thank letter.
